History

It may come as a huge surprise that the beginnings of the company come from a passion for photography and a love of cycling. It turns out, however, that the combination of the profession and extremely different interests has laid the foundations of the family business.

Ryszard Kozioł and his wife Danuta live in a small village near Lubartów. Poland is a grey country deeply rooted in the communist system. However, Ryszard Kozioł sees a wider horizon. He wants to break out of the colorless reality at all costs. A bicycle turns out to be a means to make your dreams come true.

  • 1974

Cycling takes up most of young Ryszard’s time. Perseverance, ambition and hard work bring vocations to the national team and winning the Polish Championship. During numerous races there is born an idea to start the production of cycling caps. The work starts in the house of the Kozioł. Soon, caps printed on a makeshift screen printing machine get on sale. The first are sold in the blink of an eye.

  • 1979

Pennants are soon to be created, and Ryszard is directing his interests towards printing and photography. He also extends the knowledge of chemistry. The information obtained allows to create frames, purchase a makeshift machine and make the first stickers. The search for raw materials, papers, paints begins. From here the first trips to Szczecin, then to Germany.

  • 1988

The long-awaited permit for offset printing comes from the ministry, and mass production of labels begins in Nowodwór. Ryszard Kozioł suddenly dies. The company is managed by his wife Danuta and in the following years, the adolescent sons come to the aid of the company, who together manage the Dako Printing House until today.

  • 1998

The company is still growing rapidly, the present place turns out to be insufficient. Therefore, it is necessary to change the location of the company to New adress at ul. Nowodworska 1 in Lubartów, where production and storage halls are still operating today.

  • 2009

The dynamic development of the printing house leads to the opening of a second production plant at ul. Kozłowiecka 8. The first large-format production lines and Asitrade, a corrugated cardboard and laminating machine, stand there. The next step is an investment in the Spanish company Pasaban’s crosscutter, which allows for greater flexibility in terms of raw materials.

  • 2015

This year is a breakthrough in Dako’s history. The scope of activity is expanded to include the production of corrugated cardboard and bulk cardboard thanks to the purchase of a BHS corrugator with a working width of 2.8m. Flexo printing automatically complements the offer.

  • 2020

Dako’s dynamic and at the same time clearly directed development, manifested in the continuous development of infrastructure, machinery and production halls, has made the company an attractive partner not only on the domestic market, but also abroad.
